Calculator methodology

The commute calculator is a planning tool. Its default method uses 48 commuting weeks per year and an 11-cent-per-mile maintenance allowance. It separately displays fuel, parking and maintenance. Insurance, registration and depreciation are excluded from the main estimate because they vary greatly and may not disappear when commuting changes.

Review and updates
